I’m going to see Mavis Staples on the New Haven Green tonight! For those of you who don’t know, Mavis was one of the Freedom Singers of the Civil Rights Movement who sang hope and fire into the bones of the folk involved. She put out an album called We’ll Never Turn Back last year of those old Freedom Songs and a couple of new ones that is absolutely unstoppable.

She’s part of the Arts and Ideas Festival this year and I can’t believe the brilliance of the organizers to bring her here.

Thanks to a lesson from my friend, Danny Colombara, my website got a huge kickstart, the results of which you are now looking at.

Thanks also go to Philamn Lau and Christopher Cheng, who both offered lots of help and good input along the way that made this last step go much quicker than it would have otherwise.
