At last… I’m in Taiwan! My roommate, Angie Piau, and I are now settled in Taichung, a city in central Taiwan, where I will spend the first 6-12 months in full-time language study. I’m antsy to move to Taipei, but I see that it’s vital for me to get deep in the language, so I’m happy to be here… [more]

Dear praying friends,
I woke up today in a room with a sign that reads:

Everybody saying this is a day only the Lord could make. – Bob Dylan, “The Levee’s Gonna Break” from Modern Times . Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. – James 5:17-18
…….I’ve often thought that being an intercessor is like being an undercover agent in a spy movie. You seek hidden information that is critical to your mission’s success. Danger and risk are part of the job, but you are supplied with the very best equipment—what’s a spy movie without cool gadgets? Going the Distance, Going for the Goal
One late afternoon, I was feeling restless. The solitary nature of casting vision about a small, faraway country was weighing on me a bit, so I decided to go on a walk to talk things over with God before diving into the practical details of raising support. “Please give me a friend right here in New Haven who has a particular concern for Taiwan,” I prayed.
